Another story goes the Michelada was invented during the Mexican revolution of 1910. A drink invented by an officer to enhance cheer in his soldiers. The officer's name was Don Augusto Michel. Stories and legends report the drink name derived from the officer's last name Michel and the word for cold one chelada.
How to make a basic Michelada
You will need a large mixing cup.
A 4 cup size measuring cup works.
You will need a beer mug glass to serve Michelada in.
Michelada mix
recipe makes 2 and a 1/2 cups of mix
yields 6 servings worth to add to a Beer glass or mug.
Ingredients
For the Michelada Mix
2 1/2 Cups Clamato Juice (clam and tomato juices)
can substitute with tomato juice or V8 or spicy V8
4 Tbsp Lime Juice
3 Tbsp Hot Sauce (common used brands, Tabasco, Crystal, Tapitio, Cholula)
2 Tbsp Worcestershire Sauce
2 Tsp Soy Sauce or Tamari
Garnish Michelada by rimming glass with Tajin spice mix and Lime rounds
1/4 Cup Tajin - place the amount of spice on a plate so glasses can be rimmed.
Need 6 Mexican light beers like Corona light, Sol, Modelo light.
Michelada Mixture production process
In a large mixing cup, mix together the clamato, lime juice, hot sauce, Worcestershire sauce, and soy sauce or Tamari
Start by rimming your glasses with Tajín: Rub a lime wedge around the rim of the glass then dip it into the Tajín.
Pour 1 cup of ice into a beer mug, then pour in 1/2 cup of the Michelada mixture. Top off your mug with beer. Garnish with a lime round, serve.
